# Manage company roles, invitations, and ownership

> Invite teammates, choose their access, and transfer company ownership.

Company roles control what a teammate can do in the workspace. They are separate from professional experience on a personal profile.

## Role overview

* **Owner:** everything an admin can do, plus billing and plan controls, ownership transfer, and hub deletion. A company has exactly one owner.
* **Admin:** can edit the hub, publish and manage opportunities, and invite and manage members.
* **Member:** appears on the company People tab and carries the company-verified team signal once the company is verified, but cannot publish or manage the hub.

## Invite a teammate

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Role Management">Go to **Company Hub → Role Management**.</Step>

  <Step title="Send the invitation">
    Search for the person's Dapping profile or enter their email, then send the invitation.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the role">
    Choose the least-privileged suitable role. Owner is not an option here; use ownership transfer
    instead.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for the reply">
    The recipient accepts or declines before membership becomes active.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Transferring ownership requires you to sign in again first. Expect that prompt and complete it, rather than treating it as an error. Inviting a member, changing a member's role, and removing a member do not: those are reversible from the same panel, so they apply straight away.

## Limits on who can change whom

Admins can promote a member to admin. They cannot demote or remove another admin, and they cannot change the owner. Only the owner can resolve that structure.

## Transfer ownership

Only the owner can transfer ownership, and the recipient must already be an admin. Promote them first. After the transfer you become an admin and lose owner-only access, and this cannot be undone from the interface.

If the transfer is refused because the roles changed, reload Role Management and try again. That means someone else changed a role while your view was open.

## Keep access accurate

Review roles when someone changes responsibilities or leaves, and remove access they no longer need. Role Management is also where **Employee Verification Requests** from builders arrive; see [Understand company-listed roles and verified experience](/help/companies/understand-company-listed-roles-and-verified-experience).
