A good recommendation explains how you know the person, what you saw them do, and why it mattered. Specific examples are more useful than general praise. ## Write a recommendation 1. Open the builder’s public profile and select the recommendation action. 2. Choose the relationship context when requested. 3. Describe a specific project, responsibility, strength, or result you observed. 4. Review the recipient and wording, then submit. ## Manage recommendations Your profile separates recommendations you received from those you gave. The giver or recipient can hide a recommendation, and the confirmation explains when an action will delete it permanently. ## Write for the reader * Name the kind of work without sharing confidential information. * Explain what the person actually did. * Leave out confidential details and claims you cannot support. ## Request the right reference Ask someone who directly observed the work and remind them which project or responsibility would help readers. A recommendation from a manager, collaborator, grantee, organizer, or teammate is strongest when it adds context that your own description cannot. Do not pressure people into reciprocal recommendations. Keep the reference current.
