# What happens to your proof when things change
> What happens to a verified role when the company that attested it loses verification, is suspended, or disappears.
Companies get acquired, rebrand, let their verification lapse, and occasionally vanish. Mostly your proof holds anyway, and the cases where it does not are narrow and predictable.
## A badge that loses its company is paused
A company-attested badge is only as good as the company verification behind it. When a company loses its verification, every approved attestation it issued stops claiming to be proven and returns to attested. Your role, your dates, and the record that the company confirmed it all stay exactly where they were.
If that company verifies again, the attestations it issued resume automatically. You do not reapply and the company does not reissue anything.
This is the same in both directions on purpose. A badge is a claim about live, checkable identity, so it cannot outlive the proof underneath it; but the fact that a named company once confirmed your role is history, and history does not get deleted because a company's paperwork lapsed. The one case that goes further is a company deleting its hub outright, and the table below says exactly what that leaves you with.

A paused badge is not a mark against you and it is not a dispute. Nothing on your profile says you did anything wrong, because you did not.
## What holds regardless
Work-email verification does not rest on the company's own verification, so a role proved that way is unaffected by the company's status.
Nothing here touches the rest of your profile. Products you shipped, team credit you accepted, recommendations, endorsements, participation attestations from other organizers, and published writing are separate records with separate evidence behind them.
