# Roles and permissions

> Compare personal, company, dApp team, and group-conversation roles using only visible user-facing permissions.

Roles control which identity you represent and which actions you can take. Use the least access a teammate needs, and keep public professional claims separate from workspace permissions.

## Company roles

| Role | Typical capability | Important boundary |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Owner | Controls the company hub, ownership, and highest-impact team decisions | Ownership transfer is sensitive and should use a current, trusted account |
| Admin or manager | Maintains approved company information and workflows | Access does not automatically verify employment or every public claim |
| Public team member | Appears in the company’s public team context when the relationship is accepted | Public credit does not necessarily grant management access |
| Invited teammate | Has a pending invitation | No active role exists until the invitation is accepted |

## Other role contexts

| Context | Role meaning |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Personal publishing | The signed-in builder is the accountable publisher shown on the listing |
| Company publishing | An authorized company role publishes on behalf of the company |
| dApp team | Accepted credit associates a builder with a product; management rights depend on the product workflow |
| Group conversation | Owners and permitted group roles manage participants or invite access; ordinary participants communicate within the group |

A company role, public team listing, verified experience, and dApp team credit are separate relationships. One should never be inferred from another.

## Safe role management

* Invite the exact profile you intend to add.
* Confirm the company identity before accepting an invitation.
* Grant only the access needed for the person’s work.
* Remove stale access when responsibilities change.
* Review public team and experience information separately.
