Trust signals and proof labels

Interpret visible verification, proof, recommendations, endorsements, activity, and Karma without treating one signal as a guarantee.

Every signal below answers a narrow question. None of them answers “is this person or project safe”.

Karma	A summary of foundation, proof, validation, contribution, and momentum	A verdict on a person or a hiring decision

The profile badge is granted by Dapping. A builder cannot apply it, and it is not verified experience.

Experience proof labels

Each role carries its own label, ordered here by independence of the proof.

Label	What happened
Company attested	Someone with authority at the company confirmed the role
Platform reviewed	Dapping reviewed the work-email proof for the role
Work email verified	Ownership of an address on the company domain is confirmed, and review may still be open
Self-attested	The builder approved their own role at a company they control
Disputed by verified company	A verified company has disputed the claim

Self-attested is not independent proof, and it does not earn the verified badge.

The verified badge appears on a role only when it was approved, the approval was recorded, and it has not since been revoked. The attesting company must itself be verified. An attestation from an unverified company is recorded and lists the builder on that company’s People tab, but no badge appears until Dapping verifies the company.

A verified past role is not current team membership. A builder is listed on the People tab only while the role is current and has no end date. Editing a verified role, or changing the work email behind it, sends it back for confirmation.

Karma is proof-led: it weighs what a builder can demonstrate and who vouches for them above platform activity. Integrity problems cap it rather than subtracting, so mass-reporting cannot drain a score. Validation and contribution age; verified experience and shipped work do not. Formulas, weights and thresholds are not published.
