Send a message request
- Open the person’s profile and select Message.
- Write a short intro saying who you are and why you are contacting them. An intro is required and has a length limit.
- Send it and wait. Sending again does not help; only one request per person can be pending.
Decide on requests you receive
Open Messages → Requests. The pane has three tabs: Inbox for requests awaiting your decision, Sent for requests you are waiting on, and History for resolved ones. Pending group invitations also appear here with Join and Decline. Each request offers Accept, Ignore, and Block. Ignore is private and reversible: the sender is not told, and you can still accept the request later from History. Accepting opens a normal conversation and notifies the sender. Blocking withdraws the request and stops new contact. Once you accept, that conversation stays open even if either of you later changes a Karma preference. Why a request may fail to send
- A message request is already pending. One is already open with that person. Wait for their decision.
- Your account does not meet this builder’s message request preference. They use the Karma Message Filter and set it above your level. You cannot send a request until your Karma reaches it.
- You recently sent this builder a message request. A short cooldown follows an ignored or cancelled request.
- Unblock this user before messaging them. You blocked them earlier.
